Orange-crowned vs. Nashville Warbler

This has been making the rounds on various mailing lists. I can't remember if any blogger has posted about it yet or not, so please forgive me if this is a repeat. Check out this interesting ID challenge. Is it an Orange-crowned or a Nashville?

I would lean towards orange-crowned because of the dented eyering. I don't think I have seen a Nashvile with that feature.

At first glance and without consulting literature of any kind, it looks like a good old Orange-crowned. Frankly, Nashville wouldn't have crossed my mind had I seen the bird out in the field.
But that just goes to show how much I still have to learn, I guess?

A happy New Year packed with great birds!!

I would have called it a Nasville - we have an abundance of both here in the cross timbers. I'm a fyb though.

I don't have a huge amount of experience, but I would have definitely said Nashville. It just seemed to blue to me to be an Orange-crowned, but I guess I would have been wrong!
