I'm getting married!

Beth and I are officially engaged! We're planning an outdoor wedding for either spring or fall of 2008. We'll keep you posted! You can keep an eye on Beth's blog for info on how we're going to "green" our wedding. So how did I do it?

Beth and I are huge SCRABBLE fans, so I rigged my rack to have the letters "MARRYME" and played it when it was my turn. Beth had played "SACK" on her turn. I was trying to find the letters yesterday while Beth was showering, but I couldn't find the second M and had to use a blank tile. She was really surprised and it took her a second to realize what it said. She was in her "competitive" mode. I got down and one knee and did all of the standard proposal stuff and she said "Yes!"

The happy couple!

Congratulations!!!
When's the date...and will the honey moon be to a bird-rich spot?

Corey, not sure on a date yet, but I will guarantee that I will get life birds on my honeymoon. We're thinking either Australia, Hawaii, or Alaska.

I'm so happy for you! I shared the proposal story with a scrabble fan at work.....they loved your "cleverness" Patrick. You both look so happy.....nothing in life is as wonderful as marrying your "friend"!!

That's great news! Congratulations to you and Beth. I always thought you were a cleaver guy and you've proven it once again. The ring is beautiful - great choice (on the girl too). From personal experience, I can tell you that the birds in Alaska are amazing. Good Luck!

So...who won the game??

*grin*

Congrats! If you two end up heading towards Alaska for your honeymoon, let me know and I'll hook you up with some birding buddies of mine up there.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Hawaii, camping the whole time at the county beach parks and birding/exploring the big island and Kauai. Aside from the airfare it ended up being one of the cheapest vacations we've ever taken!

Thanks everyone!

Paul, we do plan on continuing the game but it still shows my last turn. Your honeymoon sounds awesome! We'd love to do something like that.

Congratulations, Pat & Beth!
I've only crossed paths with Beth twice now, and neither time did we speak for very long... but she seemed pretty swell. And Pat's super cool, so I'm sure she's cool too. Which is all to say that I'm happy for you crazy kids & wish you all the best, so on & so on.
