Neat Blue Wasp

I photographed this Blue Mud Dauber (Chalybion californicum) yesterday at Willowwood Arboretum. Apparently, they primarily prey on Black Widows. I didn't see any of those, fortunately.

For sure... it was very frenetic for sure, like the tarantula hawks I've seen in the southwest. The sort of move from spot to spot and flick their wings like crazy.

Thanks Jason. This was taken with a Canon 30D and a 300mm telephoto lens. I had to stand pretty far back and the lens gives a pretty small depth of field. After the wedding, I'll be looking to get a macro lens.
