I used to live 5 minutes' walk from the Aasee, and spent a lot of time birding there. The proximity of the zoo caused the occasional confusion. One morning I was beside myself with excitement when I discovered a pair of Ferruginous Pochards (Ducks) on the lake; but then, as I watched, they lifted off the lake and fluttered over to the zoo, where they set down on one of the ponds and joined their fellows. Alas. Rick
Live in NJ, work the Corporate life by day, try to be an amateur naturalist the rest of the time. I currently volunteer as an Associate Naturalist for the NJ Audubon Society.
