What bird best represents Halloween?
Is it the crow? The vulture? A Great Horned Owl? Give us your opinion!
I'm favorable towards to Great Horned Owl, typically if it's just a silhouette.
Maybe it's the Baltimore Oriole - its got the right colors going on.

This may sound weird, but I thought of the Dusky Lory from New Guinea.
Of the list mentioned I would say GHO.
Well, *obviously* it's the Raven.

That's a tough call. The Raven seems eminently appropriate from the visual standpoint. But then the silhouette of a GHO or the calling seems to embody the mood of the day as well. And now that I think about it, the whinny of an Eastern Screech Owl always reminds me of a ghostly horse, which in turn reminds me of the headless horseman, so there's another candidate...

Raven is an excellent candidate. I hadn't thought of the Screech Owl whinny, but I can recall hearing it in scary movie forest scenes on occasion.
Vocally, I'd choose Long-eared Owl (just about the only bird I know that says straightforwardly "boo"!) or Barred Owl (the screams--not the hooting--of that species has scared me many times in the woods).
Visually, Bronzed Cowbird all the way, with that red eye and black cape.
I'd definitely go with an owl.The great Horned is a good choice but some of the others have eerier sounding calls.I'm not sure which calls go with which owls right now but I know one of them sounds like someone screaming from a haunted house.Barred owls can make some pretty crazy sounds too.
